Cloud computing as an all-round carefree package

The need for cloud computing solutions, i.e. the outsourcing of IT infrastructure as a service to the cloud, is constantly increasing and is finding more and more interested parties in many industries and thus also among automotive customers. For customers, it represents a kind of "all-round carefree package for the IT infrastructure", because outsourcing the IT infrastructure to the cloud brings flexibility and scalability. The engineers at ServiceXpert Gesellschaft für Service-Informationssysteme mbH support their customers from solution design to the migration of existing customer systems to the cloud.

With cloud solutions, the customer has the option of choosing from a wide range of services, such as storage space, computing power and application software. The IT infrastructure existing in the cloud is easily accessible globally at any time via the Internet.

One of the technical requirements of ServiceXpert customers in the commercial vehicle industry for new software development projects is the use of the software, including the associated databases, in and via the cloud. Both the front-end applications for the user, such as web portals or customer apps, as well as the server-related backend layers (e.g. databases) run in a cloud infrastructure.

ServiceXpert's IT software experts are currently working on the cloud porting of a highly integrated, complex and extensive After Sales Information Platform (ASIP) with Sales & Service Content Container. The system is ported to the cloud (Microsoft Azure) to enable and optimize efficient and scalable use for worldwide access. The system is designed as a hybrid architecture, e.g. parts of the system are in the cloud and some of the service containers with daily data updates are still “on premises” so that they are available to other applications on the customer intranet. The integration of the cloud shares and the "On Premises" service container is the special challenge, which is mastered without any problems due to the extensive experience of the ServiceXpert team.

In other customer projects, ServiceXpert engineers were able to successfully migrate vehicle-specific operating data to a big data environment in the cloud (AWS Amazon Web Services). Since then, user applications have been able to access the big data environment using Amazon Web Services.

Another customer approached ServiceXpert's IT software experts with the challenge that, due to the IT architecture and the customer's requirements, the frontend and backend should each run on two separate cloud providers. The frontend, which was developed as a PWA (Progressive Web App), ran in the Google Firebase Cloud. The backend was installed in an Amazon Web Service Cloud (AWS) due to data analytics and security requirements. The project team implemented a user-optimized solution in which both cloud servers communicate with each other without interruption. The architecture is presented to the user as a single application.

Through own R&D projects and numerous customer projects, the IT software experts have extensive know-how and experience in various cloud services or cloud-related services, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS Amazon Web Services, Google Firebase.

In addition, the competence team complements project experience with advanced training programs such as cloud courses of different providers and the IT software experts always complete successfully with certificates.
